Head of Conveyancing

A respected and forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Conveyancing to lead its Residential Property department. This senior role is ideal for a solicitor, licensed conveyancer, or legal executive with strong technical expertise and proven leadership experience — ready to take ownership of departmental performance, compliance, and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities:
— Leading and managing the conveyancing team — ensuring high standards of legal work and client service
— Overseeing a caseload of complex residential property transactions, including sales, purchases, leasehold, and freehold matters
— Developing team processes, mentoring junior staff, and driving best practices
— Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, legal, and internal quality standards
— Liaising with stakeholders — including clients, estate agents, lenders, and third parties — to strengthen relationships and business development
— Supporting strategic planning and contributing to the growth of the department and wider firm
— Monitoring team performance and reporting to senior management

Candidate Requirements:
— Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or Legal Executive with extensive residential property experience
— Proven leadership skills — with experience managing or supervising a team
— Strong technical knowledge of conveyancing processes and risk management
— Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
— Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
— Experience using case management systems and ensuring regulatory compliance
