Costs Lawyer
Job Description
A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Costs Lawyer to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified costs professional to work on a variety of high-quality files across multiple departments, supporting litigation teams and ensuring effective costs management and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
— Preparing detailed and accurate bills of costs, costs budgets (Precedent H), and statements of costs for summary and detailed assessment
— Drafting points of dispute and replies
— Negotiating settlements on costs with third parties
— Advising fee earners and clients on costs strategy, budgeting, and funding arrangements
— Attending detailed assessment hearings and CCMCs where necessary
— Keeping up to date with developments in costs law and relevant case law
Candidate Requirements:
— Qualified Costs Lawyer (ACL) or experienced costs professional with a strong background in legal costing
— Solid understanding of the CPR and case law relating to legal costs
— Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
— Strong communication and organisational abilities
— Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
— Proficient in using costs drafting software and Microsoft Office
